Fast Facts
Algae for biodiesel can be grown on virtually any type wasteland, unlike most biodiesel feedstocks that require fertile soil.
Algae can produce enough oil in one acre for over 10,000 gallons of biodiesel compared with an acre of corn that only produces 350 gallons of ethanol.
Algae production absorbs CO2, a harmful greenhouse gas. Algae production facilities can be co-located with power plants that burn fossil fuels. The CO2 from the power plants can be routed to the algae production facilities.
